Ross-on-Wye Choral Society was founded in 1967 and is now in its 50th season. It has established a reputation for excellent performance of a broadly-based repertoire ranging from the great choral works to lesser-known pieces including some by local composers. We enjoy the support of a loyal audience for whom a Society concert is something not to be missed.
We are a medium-sized choir, with 40-50 singers of all ages; this size means that we get to know each other, and the coffee break at half-time is a valued part of our rehearsal routine! We normally put on two major concerts a year, along with a carol concert at Christmas and a more informal summer entertainment. We perform with professional soloists and accompanists, and at least once a year with a professional orchestra.
Our President is Jane Gibson and the Society is grateful for the generous funding received from the Gibson Trust, which enables us to perform with professional musicians and orchestras. Current Vice-Presidents include past Musical Directors Ron Smith, John Handley and most recently Ian Fox.
